Patrick Bullock Romanticized by Group

Less than two years after Patrick Bullock's departure from Manzanita, the remaining group has begun to romanticize their friend, sources revealed Friday.

Bullock, who actively participated in the trip from 2009 to 2022, is recalled as an irreplaceable member of the trip who helped his friends engage in fellowship and debauchery. One former friend characterized Bullock as ‘one of a kind.’

‘A lot of nights, it was Bullock, me, and a few other guys drinking together,’ one source recalled. ‘Bullock would always have some comment. Man, that guy!’

The group agreed Bullock often entertained them by taking a joke way beyond laughs, telling elaborate stories about owning a Jeep, and airing grievances with ongoing office politics at his job. ‘He had a lot of shit going on,’ said another friend. ‘He was cool that way.’

‘He was cool that way.’

A framed photo on the kitchen counter often prompts the group to rhapsodize about Bullock. In it, the man is standing in the background, grinning. Glancing at the photo, someone piped up saying, ‘That's totally Bullock right there. I'll bet he just used that excited inflection he does. Man, I miss that guy.’

The group waxed nostalgic about how Bullock would often lean into a bit by repeatedly pushing a joke, and ‘keep going back to it to the point of absurdity.’

Others recalled one of Bullock’s catch phrases. ‘When he'd get pissed at somebody, he'd say, 'You douchebag!’ That was classic Bullock. Even when he was joking around he’d use that. He’d often use it to cap off his schtick where he'd act all worked up about something insignificant, raise his voice, and get in your face. He loved doing that.’

‘That's totally Bullock right there.’

‘I can't believe Bulls is gone,' another person said. ‘You know, we didn't really call him 'Bulls' when he was here, but that's the kind of nickname he deserved. Yeah, good old Bulls.’

Even people who never knew Bullock soon discover the length of the man’s shadow. On the first day of Manzanita 2023, first time trip goers were led on a tour of the house. At the threshold into the garage, the tour guide solemnly pointed into the downstairs bedrooms. ‘Over the years, Bullock slept in each of these rooms. And one time, out here in the garage, he called his sandals his ‘trash cans’ — we didn’t know what he was talking about — but he did that, too.’

‘No, I think that was Lanier,’ someone else interjected. ‘Oh right, Lando!’ echoed a chorus of voices. ‘I wonder where he’s at now. He was great too.’
