Comeback Champions

Slow play was the big storyline on day one of the 2019 Manzanita Invitational, but not so much the next morning. The narrative wondrously turned when the third team sped things up. Erasing a two stroke deficit by the second hole, the champions raced to a come-from-behind victory on day two.

'It was kind of what I expected – significantly improved,' Michael Burke said. ‘Holste’s iron game was way better. His putting was way better. His driver was way better. I didn’t’ see us going backward from there.'

A David Leslie chip-in birdie on hole four extended a one stroke lead. And by the ninth tee, the narrative was all but written as Austin Lanier blasted a 54-yard pitching wedge to lock in his minimum one drive contribution.

Continuing a trend of comeback Manzanita victories, our champions soaked in the adulation from an adoring crowd, lifted the Marshall Bob aloft, and relaxed with the knowledge that they will forever be in the history books.
